January marked a month of planning, reflection, and action for Chainbase. Despite market fluctuations and broader geopolitical discussions, we remained focused on delivering products and driving collaborations. We began the year with notable partnerships and community engagements, ranging from deep dives into Web3, AI agents, and data analytics to in-person events that brought the Web3 community together.
TL;DR:
Incentivized Testnet: Launched for $C token economics, node performance, and governance testing.
Manuscript Enhancements: GET_TOKEN_META
(instant token metadata) and ETH_CALL_REQUEST
(custom RPC calls).
Genesis Check-In: 1.3M+ wallets; Zircon rewards, treasure boxes, daily Base NFTs.
New Partnerships: Story Protocol (IP management) and focEliza (AI agents).
Chainbase AI Plugin: Now supports DeepSeek.
Community: 383K+ members, new events (Riddles, Poker, mini-event). Ambassadors created 11 videos, joined global meetups.
Chainbase has launched its incentivized testnet to stress-test the $C token economy and ensure seamless node operations. Several key roles have been introduced for this phase. Operators run nodes to secure data transformation in exchange for $C rewards. Delegators stake tokens to strengthen the network’s security. Data Zone Owners host decentralized data pipelines for various blockchains, while Developers focus on building Manuscripts that convert raw data into valuable insights.
Phase 1, which runs from January to March 2024, emphasizes node performance, fair token distribution, and governance stress tests. This stage aims to validate the tokenomics in real-world conditions, striking a balance among node operators, data contributors, and delegators. It also assesses hardware and software configurations, ensuring reliable data indexing, querying, and cross-chain synchronization. In addition, the testnet encourages early adopters to provide feedback that will refine roles, reward distribution, and governance before Mainnet launch.
GET_TOKEN_META: Fetch Token Metadata Instantly
Chainbase has introduced the GET_TOKEN_META UDF, eliminating the need for manual contract queries or third-party APIs. By simply calling this function with a token address, users can retrieve standardized metadata for any ERC-20, ERC-721, or ERC-1155 token on EVM-compatible chains. This development automates token symbol and name validation in DeFi dashboards, streamlines precision adjustments for transactions, and simplifies metadata retrieval for NFT collections.
ETH_CALL_REQUEST: Execute Custom RPC Calls
Additionally, the ETH_CALL_REQUEST UDF offers direct access to Ethereum-compatible RPC methods, such as eth_blockNumber
and eth_call
. Users can now query live chain data, interact with smart contracts, and fetch blockchain states without setting up extra infrastructure. This provides capabilities like retrieving the latest block number for time synchronization, calling contract functions to check balances or governance votes, and monitoring gas prices or network status in real time.

First released in late December, the Chainbase Genesis Check-In System has attracted over 1.3 million participating wallets throughout January. The system rewards users who check in for seven consecutive days, offering daily Zircon tokens that range from 10 to 60 per day, along with special treasure boxes. A regular box becomes available on Day 4, while completing all seven days unlocks a super box.
One standout feature allows users to mint their daily check-in progress as Chainbase Mystland NFTs on the Base chain. Priced at just $0.2, these NFTs feature seven unique building designs—from the Tribes of Day 1 to the Mysterious Temple of Day 7. Since the minting cap is set at 2,333 NFTs per day, availability often sells out, reflecting the community’s enthusiasm. This collection has generated 62 ETH in secondary market trading volume, demonstrating the strong demand for these digital collectibles.
The flexible seven-day cycle lets participants start their check-in streak at any time. Whether they are earning Zircons, opening treasure boxes, or collecting NFTs, the Genesis Check-In System remains a lively and integral part of the Chainbase ecosystem.
We are partnering with Story to set new standards for data processing, protection, and monetization in the digital IP-driven economy. Through this partnership, we will deliver the first IP-specific data processing framework. Our specialized "Data Zones" focus on specific dataset domains, creating a structured and efficient ecosystem for managing and protecting intellectual property.
As decentralized ecosystems grow, trustworthy real-time data becomes essential for advancing AI agents. In collaboration with focEliza, we are creating a robust foundation for fully on-chain, verifiable, and autonomous AI agents. By combining reliable data access with natural language capabilities, these tools are shaping the next generation of decentralized intelligence.
Eliza AI agents currently face limitations in easily accessing and analyzing on-chain data, particularly across diverse blockchain networks. The Chainbase AI plugin addresses this by enabling users to query blockchain data using natural language, eliminating the need for extensive technical blockchain expertise. This unlocks a new realm of powerful analytics and insights for ElizaOS. This solution aligns with our broader mission to make blockchain data more accessible and actionable for all users.
Chainbase AI Plugin now supports DeepSeek within the text2SQL agent function.
At Chainbase, we're building a collaborative AI ecosystem that unites key innovators in five areas: AI copilots, blockchain platforms for AI, data layers, AI agent frameworks, and decentralized computing. Partners contribute their specialized capabilities—from on-chain analytics to advanced computation to agent-driven applications—enabling developers to build and scale next-generation AI solutions.
One highlight was our Podcast Takeover, which allowed Chainbase to be in the spotlight: VBI Community—Vietnam’s largest Web3 educator and developer event organizer—featured Luki Song, Head of Ecosystem and Strategy, on their Futurecast podcast. The conversation covered topics such as Web3 fundamentals, data, travel, and career insights. Buildify also gave us a platform to share our journey and vision for Web3 infrastructure, where listeners got to learn about Chainbase’s decentralized approach.
We went all-in on AI Agents and Web3 Innovations through a series of AMA sessions. First, we collaborated with Flock, DIN, Carv, and Mode Network to discuss AI trends, challenges, and predictions for 2025. Next, we joined Supernet, AethirCloud, and Vana to envision the future of AI-driven Web3 infrastructure. Finally, we worked with YAI to explore how AI agents could reshape crypto trading and the on-chain storage of AI training data.
To end January on a high note, we teamed up with AthensDAO for its third in-real-life event in Greece. We participated in panels that covered Meme Coins and Web3 Careers, showcasing how these trends impact the decentralized landscape. We also presented a live demo on extracting valuable insights from Pump.fun using Chainbase, emphasizing the power of on-chain data for analytics. During the event, we forged strong connections with key local leaders, setting the stage for future collaborations.
Looking ahead, January was just the beginning. As we continue to push boundaries in Web3 and AI, expect even bigger developments from Chainbase in the coming months. Stay connected, stay decentralized, and let's shape the future together. Follow us for more updates and join the conversation.
Our community continues its rapid expansion, now exceeding 383K members. January was filled with dynamic activities. At our Monthly Townhall, we discussed key project updates, upcoming features, $C token adoption strategies, and community engagement plans. We also hosted a live Q&A session with Ivy and Luki. For a more interactive twist, we replaced the Daily Talker Program 2.0 with Daily Riddles spread over two days, adding a fun element to community engagement.
We organized our first-ever AI Poker League Tournament in collaboration with four partner projects, and launched Chainbase x Xion: Game On!, a two-day mini-event series with three games daily on each server. The 5th Chainbase Community Quiz Day tested members’ knowledge of the major milestones Chainbase achieved in 2024.
Our ambassadors contributed significantly to community growth. They created 11 videos highlighting Chainbase features, translated into seven languages. Asian Dickson represented Chainbase at the Sei Network Nigeria Event, the AirDAO Campus Meetup, and the CUDOS Ignites Africa Event, engaging with the blockchain community and showcasing Chainbase's role in Web3 innovation.
